Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get into The Academy?

The Academy is very selective as to who is accepted into the programs. We look for those with a true desire to succeed in the entertainment industry. We also look for a high level of interest in the chosen program, talent, ability, aptitude, and attitude. The Academy is highly selective in the admissions process. Only about one out of every three applicants are invited to join the programs.

How long are the courses?

Both the Radio Broadcasting course and the TV/Video Production course are a short 16 weeks. Students are required to attend 24 hours per week. The school is open from 8:00 A.M. until 11:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays. Students have some flexibility in determining their school schedules.

How often do the programs start?

The programs start weekly. However, since classes are usually full, space availability sometimes depends on how many students graduate. If you are serious about getting into a new career in the entertainment industry, you should apply as soon as possible. It is not uncommon to have a waiting list for those wanting to attend.

What can I expect as a student at The Academy?

As a student, you will have the confidence knowing that you are pursuing your chosen career at the finest institution of its kind in the nation. You will be learning on state of the art equipment, spending almost 90% of your time hands-on in the studio, and be trained by working industry professionals. Individual attention, a conducive learning environment, and a caring and nurturing staff ensure that your training and educational experience will be thorough and exciting.

What is the difference between attending The Academy and 2 or 4-year college?

The simple answer is time. The Academy’s certificate programs are intensive hands-on training in the profession of Radio Broadcasting or TV/Video production. We don’t teach the other non-broadcasting courses that colleges do. In 16 weeks, you are trained and ready to enter the entertainment/broadcasting industry.

Is there Job Placement assistance?

YES! As a graduate of the Academy, you will be helped by our full-time guidance staff to help you get your foot in the door. The Academy has 38 years of career guidance success, and as such, we have an established network of job leads and industry contacts.
